Drupal as a GeoCMS

In this session we'll describe the building blocks of collecting, storing and searching for information that's relevant to mapping and locations. We'll describe our work on the Geo and Geocode modules and how they can be used to collect and produce information in a wide variety of formats, including maps, feeds, or searchable data on your site.

As these tools reach maturity, your users can begin to create rich information about where your information is, and how it relates to other information.

We'll give you the rundown on what you can do with these tools today, and what we plan on working on during Geo June and beyond.

The Power of Place: GIS, Maps, and Drupal

Bdragon and jimcraner from ChicagoTech will lead a very quick review of the state of GIS (geographic|geospatial info systems) on Drupal, hopefully with a brief update on the exciting geo.module from Allie at AdvantageLabs. Then, depending on audience preference and time constraints, we can split into small groups to run through the following or any other suggested threads:

* Mapmaking 101 Hands-On (Gmap and Location3)
* Advanced look at geo.module and roadmap
* Tour and demo of online mapping integration modules available
* Discussion of user and developer GIS needs and possible future solutions
